We are pleased to share the Plastic Offset Program (POP) Quarter 1-2026 Impact Report. This highlights the progress of our environmental and social initiatives. Across Myanmar and Thailand. Through cleanup activities, environmental education, and livelihood support programs. POP continues working toward a cleaner environment while supporting vulnerable communities through sustainable opportunities.
Building Impact in Myanmar
The POP Thanlyin Chapter in Myanmar continues to strengthen its role as a community-based environmental initiative focused on reducing plastic pollution while creating meaningful local impact.
During the first quarter of 2026, the Thanlyin chapter completed:
- 18 cleanup activities
- 5,337 kg of waste collected
- 24 local collectors engaged
- Environmental education sessions are reaching students and community members
- Livelihood workshops supporting income-generating opportunities for vulnerable households
The project continues operating along the Bago River and surrounding communities. Where plastic leakage into waterways remains a significant environmental challenge.
Beyond waste collection, the POP program focuses on long-term behavioral change through education and practical community engagement.
World Earth Day Volunteer Event 2026
As part of World Earth Day 2026. The POP Thanlyin Team organized a special volunteer cleanup event together with local community members and volunteers.
The event resulted in:
- 102 kg of plastic waste collected
- Community environmental awareness activities
- Professional photoshoot and video documentation for environmental storytelling and outreach
The event reflected the importance of collective action and demonstrated. How local communities can contribute directly to protecting rivers, coastlines, and oceans from plastic pollution.
Environmental Education for the Next Generation
Environmental education remains one of the core pillars of the POP program.
The session focused on:
- Reducing single-use plastic
- Responsible waste management
- Sustainable daily habits
- Protecting rivers and oceans from pollution
Since launching in 2022. The POP Environmental Awareness Program has reached thousands of students across Myanmar. Through interactive environmental learning sessions. Designed to encourage long-term behavioral change.
Supporting Sustainable Livelihoods
Environmental sustainability and community resilience are deeply connected.
The program aims to help participants strengthen practical skills to generate additional income. Particularly for families facing unstable livelihood opportunities.
To further support participants’ daily needs, the team also distributed:
- Rice
- Eco-friendly mosquito repellent products
These livelihood initiatives continue to empower local communities. While promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
