Ngwe Saung Yacht Club & Resort is taking another step in its sustainability journey by supporting verified plastic removal and community-based environmental action along Myanmar’s coastline.
Ngwe Saung, Myanmar – August 2026 – Ngwe Saung Yacht Club & Resort (“Ngwe Saung”), a luxury beachfront resort and sailing club on the coastline of Ngwe Saung Beach, is proud to announce its partnership with Starboard’s Plastic Offset Program (POP).
Through the partnership, Ngwe Saung has committed to funding the removal of 2 tonnes of plastic waste from Myanmar’s shorelines through Starboard’s VERRA-certified plastic credits. The collaboration combines practical plastic removal with environmental education, livelihood support, and community action.
Starboard’s Plastic Offset Program removes plastic waste within 50 meters of the shoreline on beaches in Myanmar and Thailand. Helping prevent plastic from reaching the ocean. Beyond cleanups, POP also supports local waste management, creates opportunities for waste collectors, and provides environmental education and livelihood training for communities.
Leading by Example
Ngwe Saung’s partnership with Starboard builds on its existing commitment to protecting the coastal environment.
The resort has taken practical steps to reduce single-use plastic, including supporting a water refill point at the hotel to encourage the use of refillable bottles. Ngwe Saung also supports community environmental action through Trash Hero Ngwe Saung, where cleanup activities are conducted every Thursday to help keep the local coastline and surrounding areas clean.
The resort’s connection to the marine environment is also reflected in its range of outdoor activities, including sailing, water sports, and its Surfing Camp, giving guests and visitors opportunities to experience and appreciate the coastal environment.

Plastic Credits as Eco-Action
Starboard’s plastic credits are certified under VERRA’s Plastic Waste Reduction Standard, providing transparency and traceability for the plastic removal supported through the program.
For Ngwe Saung, the partnership provides an opportunity to complement its own sustainability efforts with direct support for verified plastic removal and environmental and social initiatives in local communities.
