Mission
To connect SUP & marine conservation within the city of Liverpool.
About Jayne
The docking system that I use on my paddles is linked to a river that goes out into the bay/sea. By cleaning the docks, we eradicate some of the rubbish that would have made its way into the ocean.
I also host several Beach Cleans, nurdle hunts and talks for local schools and businesses on how they can go plastic-free & reduce their impact.
I’ve always had a love for the ocean, for as long as I can remember. Growing upright on one of the world’s most famous Docks, it was hard not to follow my maritime heritage & I was always naturally drawn to the water. I studied BSc Marine Zoology at University & I’ve been working in Conservation for the past 6 years, obtaining a post-graduate diploma in Conservation Management.
Now my aim is to bring them all together, to create awareness, allow people to have fun, and give them a unique experience they may never have had in the city before.
Starboard in the City
In May 2021, Liverpool SUP Co & Starboard SUP joined forces for the ‘Starboard in the City Initiative’, connecting the Liverpool City Region to the beautiful coastline we sit on. Educating & engaging our local communities to make positive changes, learn more about our coast & have fun! 🌎
The initiative includes objectives such as:
🏄🏻♀️ SUP Clean Up Sessions
🌊 Beach Cleans
🌲 Community Litter Picks around our local parks
🦀 Shoreline Workshops, classes & talks highlighting the importance of Marine Conservation
🎓 Collaborations with local schools & universities
♻️ Supporting Local Businesses & offering corporate cleans & events
🙌🏼 Working with local ‘friends of’ groups to host events
🏢 Working with Local Councils to help make positive environmental changes within the Liverpool City Region
The aim of the initiative is to get more people in our community engaging & talking about ways we can help save our oceans, our environment & truly make a difference 👏🏼
