June 2021 was another big month for environmental activists all over the world. Since World Environment day was on June 5th and World Oceans day on June 8th, we were not lacking for inspiration and motivation!
Read below to find out what what we have been up to:
Clean Ups With The Starboard Eco Team
The Starboard eco team have been cleaning beaches across Thailand and the UK. Doing our bit to remove plastic and other trash that has entered the environment and to maintain clean and healthy habitats for wildlife (and human visitors!).
Sea7
June was also a super busy month for Starboards Partner for the Ocean, Protect Blue. During the week of World Oceans day, they were working on two amazing events.
In response to the G7 being hosted in Cornwall, Protect Blue worked with B Corp Finisterre to host Sea7 – an online ocean activist training camp. So to make the biggest impact, event was live-streamed direct from Finisterre HQ, also in Cornwall. During the event Starboard Ocean Ambassadors SeaTrees joined the incredible collection of speakers to share more about their work restoring blue carbon ecosystems.
World Oceans Day for Schools
Like Sea7, World Oceans Day for School took action in educating ocean activists, but this time focusing on kids. The 2021 World Ocean Days for Schools ran four days of activities. Partnering with Cloud & Dirt, Marine Conservation Society, National Marine Aquarium, Ocean Conservation Trust, Common Seas & the Marine Stewardship Council.
As always, Starboard Ocean Ambassadors made up the epic WOD for Schools team. Carolyn & Carlos from The Whale Company ran an awesome craft workshop and Sydney Steenland hosted a workshop sharing the amazing story of the Sea Monkey Project.
