SEA MONKEYS project

Ocean Plastic Solutions & Education

Mission

Our mission is to bring education and plastic pollution solutions to people of all kinds. Bringing accessible recycling to lesser fortunate village communities around South East Asia and beyond so they can not only clean the environment, but also make a profit to support their families. But at the end of everything we do, we educate.

About Sea Monkeys

The Sea Monkeys are a family of four lead by 16 y.o Sydney and 13 y.o Indi, we have been living and travelling on a sailboat from Australia since 2011. As we sailed through Australia and SEA we saw one consistent thing, plastic. Plastic is everywhere and effects our beloved nature and us humans in such intricate ways.

So we decided to do something about it.

In 2016 we started the Sea Monkey Project in Malaysia. Building small, portable and sustainable plastic recycling machines and have since sent over 40 machines all over the world. All while conducting education in various forms reaching 10’s of thousands of people.

Services of the sea monkey project

SMP has worked with dozens of companies, such as the Body Shop, Nestlé, Adidas and more. We work with the companies to create a custom recycling mould to make their own projects out of recycled plastic. We sell machines, and distribute them to smaller village communities to teach the locals how to recycle.

Here are some of the 100% recycled plastic products we make:

Necklace pendants, pots, coasters, medals, bag clips, combs, rulers, soap dishes, and so much more. The only limit is your imagination!

The products we are most proud of are our 100% Upcycled Material Apparel. Our backpacks, tote bags and hip packs are all made completely from used materials such as boat sails, kite sails, seatbelts, fishing nets and rope, along with recycled plastic bottle thread!

But at the end of everything we do, we believe that education is the key to change, not recycling. To spread the message SMP can provide talks, educational videos, workshops, and much more.
