Bye Bye Plastic Bags
Youth Driven Change
Bye Bye Plastic Bags is an Indonesia-based organization that advocates for the prohibition of single use plastic bags on the island of Bali. Teens Melati and Isabel Wijsen succeeded in passing a bag ban beginning in 2018, and now advocate for proper waste management and ocean stewardship.
Starboard travelled with the young sisters to New York, where the pair presented their story to the United Nation. Together with team rider, Sean Poynter, Starboard also visited Melati and Isabel in Bali, testing out some of eco-product on the water.
Starboard supports BBPB’s educational and environmental efforts an encourages people around Southeast Asia – and the world to change their single use plastic habits.
