This means that Starboard, FreeWing, Airush, AK, Severne & SOMWR are all now B-Corp Certified Brands. Joining the likes of Patagonia, Finistere, Creatures of Leisure, Rip Curl, Burton, Cariuma and many, many more.
When we first became B-Corp Certified, all the way back in 2018, we had 100,000 baby mangroves in the ground, we were testing our very first eco-boards and had only just launched our Plastic Offset Program in Pattaya, Thailand.
It’s pretty crazy to see how far we have come in the last 5 years, we now have:
- 2 million Mangroves planted
- 590,000 kg of plastic collected by 4 Plastic Offset Program teams from beaches in Thailand & Myanmar
- We have installed solar panels on our roofs, a full vegetarian lunch menu and a composting program for all our food waste.
- We have become members of the Fair Labour Association, working towards accreditation to ensure the highest standard of working conditions throughout our supply chain.
But what does it mean to be a B-Corp?
Becoming B-Corp certified means that we have voluntarily undergone a third-party audit to assess our impact on workers, customers, our community and the environment. It not only certifies the good work we have already put in but shows our commitment to progress and provides us with the tools to help us become the best we can be.
If you want to understand more about what the B-Corp Movement represents, watch this short explainer video:
The main purpose of a B Corporation is to promote social and environmental change through positive business practices. B-Corps work to reduce inequality, lower poverty levels, create more sustainability for our environment, and build stronger communities.
Sounds pretty great right?
So next time you are looking to buy a new board, order a cup of coffee, apply for a job or open a bank account, look for the B-Corp Stamp and be a part of the movement for good!
