Starboard and the International Canoe Foundation have calculated and offset the emissions from their 21 Major events in 2023. Read on and check out the 2023 Carbon Footprint Report.
Last year, Starboard continued its partnership with the International Canoe Federation team, by calculating and offsetting CO2e emissions from every major ICF event. These included 11 World Championships and 9 World Cups across 8 different disciplines.
Unlike previous years, in 2023 responsibility for carbon footprinting was divided between ICF and Starboard. With ICF taking on the task of data collection and emisssion calculation and Starboard continuing to support in terms of offsetting and reporting.
However, neutral is no longer enough. In recognition of this fact, Starboard went one step further and ensured that every SUP event was 10X Climate positive. Through planting enough trees to offset emissions 10 times over, the partnership ensured that every ICF SUP event had a 10X positive impact on the climate! In this way, we are taking action to preserve the environment for generations to come. Find out more about how we did it in the report below.
Starboard and the ICF have now been official environmental action partners for the three years in a row. Unfortunately today, sporting events are criminalised for their negative consequences on the planet. However this partnership aims to show that we can all do better. Its as simple as calculating, reducing and offsetting your event carbon footprint. Through collaboration, any event can be made climate positive.
