This week, on the lead up to World Ocean’s Day, Starboard is super excited to introduce our first ever Junior Ocean Ambassador to our team!
Ocean Ambassador Mikaela is an all-star. Who commits and gives her everything to educate, inspire and spread her words to her friends and peers.
Dreaming of a healthy environment and a better future for the planet. Mikaela pushes for the need to reduce single-use plastics. To protect the playground that she has had a passion for since she was only one year old. Growing up on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in North East Florida, she was always destined to be a water girl. With her dad catching waves on his SUP then holding Mikaela on the board’s nose as they surfed all the way to the shore. At that point, there was no looking back for Mikaela.
Starboard have leapt at the chance to recruit her on our Ocean Ambassador team. As she has pursued everything ocean and enjoying all it has to offer. From being a highly competitive surfer, to paddle boarding and now probably one of the youngest girls to be foil boarding.
This summer Mikaela will be delivering “Save the Earth” presentations each week at surf camps. With her little brother Kai also joining her to inspire young surfers!
In Mikaela’s words:
I AM MIKAELA, a young girl who loves the ocean, nature and my beautiful home planet called Earth. I live a clean healthy life and try my hardest to protect our oceans and environment at all times. My motto is “Be Brave” and I am stoked to be the very first Starboard Junior Ocean Ambassador. With this responsibility, I commit to helping educate, inspire and spread the word about all the values we at Starboard see core to living a sustainable and eco-friendly life.
I know that there are many big programs that are committed to helping solve the worlds pollution problems. But as an eleven-year-old girl, I also wanted to help protect our ocean and its wonders for generations to come. I believe this starts with each and every person doing what is right. This includes leaving no trace and to do your part when it comes to keeping our beaches clean. As part of my Be Brave motto, I always promote my “One Piece at a Time” effort. If every person who stepped on a beach left no trace but also picked up even a single piece of trash how much better would we all be?
