It’s here! A new organisation creating a positive impact for the protection of Mother Nature: Project MANA.
Born in Puglia, Italy, Project MANA is born thanks to a group of young initiators including Starboard Ocean Ambassador, Stefano Bellomo. For years, this group of individuals have been committed to connecting people with Mother Nature. From 2013 to 2018 the group involved hundreds of young people from all over Europe in these projects, Including: intercultural exchanges, training courses, outdoor activities, sport events and much more. All achieved with the help of GreenRope association.
The Project MANA Team
Now, a new path begins. Project MANA has grown from the teams achievements over the past 5 years. But is keeping to the same goal of “Reconnecting people with Mother Nature”.
Project MANA is creating a network of Nature Experience Providers, such as ecotourism operators, SUP and surf centres. Whilst offering each person digital communication services, training, and networking. Through this network, Project MANA also offers outdoor corporate team building services to companies.

One of the objectives of Project MANA is to invest in concrete actions for the protection of Mother Nature. In fact, to assist with this goal, Starboard has agreed to planting 1 mangrove tree for each new organisation who joins the Project MANA network. Worldview International Foundation will plant the mangroves, helping restore Myanmar’s Mangrove forests. It is known that in many countries, mangroves are disappearing three times faster than rainforests, and in some areas are reaching a total extinction.
Moreover, angroves are essential to the health of the planet. With mangroves being a blue carbon store, they are one of the few species that grow in the intertidal zones. In fact, blue carbon is so important as it stores over 50% of the worlds CO2, yet only covers 2% of the planet. These trees protect coral reefs and are a crucial habitat for the survival of several animal species. As a result, the ecosystem services that mangroves provide are of the highest value for life on Earth.
Nature is Health. Nature is Home.
Many studies are documenting the positive impacts of nature on human social, psychological, and emotional life. Being in or living near nature has a positive impact on our brains, bodies, feelings, thought processes, and social interactions. In other words, science suggests we may seek out nature not only for our physical survival, but because it’s good for our social and personal well-being. Additionally, nature boosts creativity, connection, generosity, and resilience.
In fact, nowadays, our actions increasingly distance us from the values and benefits that mother nature gives us. It is time to change our way of living.
This is why Project MANA aims to reconnect people with Mother Nature through experiencing the quality outdoor activities offered by their network. Therefore, deeply understanding the importance of protecting the resources of our planet.
Their motto is “Let Mother Nature come into your life”.
Finally, Project Mana was holds the ‘Changmakers’ award within the category of ‘GenC-Generation Changemakers’ at the Ashoka Changemaker Summit in 2021. The award was given by Ashoka who is in partnership with the National Youth Agency.
