About Céline Jennison
At the age of ten Starboard Ocean Ambassador Celine, used herbalism to cure her immune deficiency. And unsurprisingly the power of plants has mesmerized her ever since.
Alongside her academic studies Céline volunteered on countless farms, curious to discover the best way to feed the world sustainably. More specifically she wanted to better understand how to harness the power of nature through biomimicry. She developed a passion for trees and their ability to provide food, habitats, and to sequester CO2.
Digging deeper into food issues, Céline soon became aware of the issue of plastic pollution. And in response to the problem, she co-founded the non-profit Plastic Tides in 2014. The team combines adventure & science to address ocean plastic pollution via SUP expeditions. Céline became the first woman to have ever circumnavigated a country, Bermuda, on a SUP during their first research expedition.
Founding Anato
Using her plant science background and her passion for nautical expeditions, Céline founded the company Anato in 2018. Having been unable to find a multi-functional skincare product that was also plastic free, she decided to create her own. Helping others to kick-start their Zero Waste Voyage. Anato’s packaging is either bare, reusable or backyard compostable.
Just like plants serve multiple purposes, Anato’s provides products designed to be multi-functional. Perfect for adventurous, minimalist lifestyles. In Anato’s zero waste voyager kit you can find reef-safe sunblock, 2-in-1 soap + shampoo, a Kelp Forest Face mask & scrub and just a few other products. All Inspired by oceanic and terrestrial ecosystems.
Anato’s ‘Tree Balm’ is the definition of a multifunctional product. It serves as an antibacterial ointment, a moisturiser, a sore muscle rub and a decongestant. On a windsurf trip to Bonaire, Célines team even used the it to heal their over-windsurfed hands and protect them from staph-infected water.
By creating minimally processed and packaged products sourced from living trees, Anato increases individual’s well-being while caring for the planet.
When she’s not working in her studio, you’ll find Celine paddling her 8’ Carbon Pro at the legendary Steamer Lane, ski- touring in Lake Tahoe or SUPing across Monterey Bay to fight offshore drilling.
