Committed to creating a future of freedom worth living in, Starboard Blue has supported SOMWR to make environmental action an intrinsic part of their product design.

For every SOMWR garment, Starboard Blue has planted 1 mangrove and picked up 1.4kg of shoreline plastic.

Measurement and reporting

Since 2021, Starboard Blue has supported SOMWR to produce reports to account for emissions from production, energy usage at HQ, staff commutes and event travel. This pie chart shows the overview of SOMWR carbon footprint in 2023 and you can view the full reports to learn more.

Action Taken

From the beginning, SOMWR has taken steps to be the best clothing brand for the planet. Whilst also striving to use the least water and carbon intensive materials possible, SOMWR also takes action to make a positive impact.

10X Climate Positive

Informed by our calculations, SOMWR plants 1 VCS certified mangrove for every item made. Over the next 25 years, these mangroves will sequester 10 times the amount of CO2e released by SOMWRs overall carbon footprint. Since 2019, they have planted 2 million trees, contributing to the 10X climate-positive movement.

Picking up plastic

SOMWR doesn’t offer plastic, polyester or fossil fuel based products, but they do want to help overcome ocean plastic pollution. Through picking up 1.4 kg of beach plastic for every item sold, they counteract the average amount of plastic which ends up in the ocean per person per year . Overall, SOMWR have picked up 600,000+ kg of shoreline plastic.
