Starboard is the first company in the world to establish a successful Plastic Offset Program.
First we calculate and publish our full plastic footprint, to be totally transparent about our role in the plastic economy.
Secondly, Starboard has put an internal price on plastic based on their usage. We assign a dollar value to each material based on its lifespan, recycled/bio content, and harm to the environment, then multiply this by how much is used to make our products.
The final amount funds a program that incentivizes clean-ups of plastic from the beaches in Pattaya, Thailand to offset our plastic impact.
So how are we currently doing?
On 7th of July we reached our goal for the first year of the program, one month before the actual deadline. This means that in 11 months our team retrieved 43.000 kg of plastic trash from local beaches. You can see all the data and interesting facts on our POP chart.
